If you then walk around the " Grand Rond " , you well find yourself facing " The Allée Frédéric Mistral " and the holocaust Memorial.

There six large metal doors, each ten meters high, symbolize the six million Holocaust victims.
An official commemoration is held at this each year.
The pop-up Guinguette open in the summer " La pétanque des copains " :

This concept is quite interesting.
if you need to take a break , I recommend stopping at this guinguette.
Not only can you have a drink , but since you're in the south of France, you can also play game of " pétanque " on real courts if you wish !!! .
The Frédéric Mistral bronze statue :
As you continue on your way, you will see a statue of " Frédéric Mistral " holding his cane and book .

It should be noted that this Resistance fighter was known by the nickname " Forain " .
The Monument to the Glory of Resistance :

One might wonder, once in front of it, what this strange place is, with its tubes rising towards the sky.
In fact, it is a monument dedicated to the memory of the Resistance fighter.
The location was not chosen by chance.
Indeed, the impressive bourgeois house with its two imposing towers, on your left was the headquarters of the Gestapo in Toulouse .

The projection was launched in 1965 by the municipality and was intended to be an architectural gesture in memory of the Resistance.
The five metal tubes are arranged boldy and supported by barely visible cable.
This structure is complemented by concrete architecture located beneath an earthern mound that honors the victims who were deported, tortured, and executed.
If you enter beneath the mound, you will hear the story of all those men and woman who fourth for freedom.
The Monument " en l'honneur des Justes " :

To exit the Monument to the Glory of the Resistance, you will take a long concrete corridor that leads to the rear entrance of the " Jardin des Plantes " .
Enter here, and you will immediately encounter the Monument to the Honor of the Righteous .
It was inaugurated in 2003.
Just like in Jerusalem, where the names of the Righteous are inscribed at the base of each tree plated along an avenue, this pink granite stele bears 135 names.
People who chose to help Jews during the war at the risk of their own lives .
On the " Allées François Verdier " :

If you continue around the " Grand Rond " , you will come across two very interesting places.
A large bronze sculpture

It is a monument to the fighters of 1870.
This bronze statue created by the Parisian foundry " MASSELET ", dates from 1908.
The kiosk CANG TIN VIET NAM :

If you're feeling a bit hungry, you're in the right place.
This kiosk, where I often eat, offers refined Asian cuisine.
The hygiene is impeccable, and you can take your food to go.
The Niel Palast :

The architecture of this remarkable building and its beautiful park is characteristic of the Second Empire style, featuring both classical and Renaissance elements.
It also features Parisian Haussmannien style, making it unique in Toulouse.
This influence is evident in the dignement of the windows and the harmonious use of stone and bricks.
It is occupied by the Command of the French Army our Occitanie region and it is currently undergoing extensive renovation .
This building is a private mansion of Toulouse.
Return to Jules Guesde Alley on the left side :

On te left side of these Alley, there is a section of an old wall typical of Toulouse that dates back to the Roman period.
But the see the last two unusual places, you will need to take " Rue Ozenne ", and then turn onto " Rue Fulgare " , which will be on your left.
The Furgole prison :

You will find yourself in a small square called " Haut-Murats " .
Facing a modern residence, if you will look through the gate to the left, you will see the " Haut-Murats Tower " .
This was an old military prison where Toulouse Resistance fighters were detained during World War II .
Gésu church :

It was built in a Neo-Gothic style by Jesuits in the 19th. century.
It was desecrated in 2000 and converted into organ council chamber.
It is impressive, with a vaulted height of 23 meters.
The big organ was classified as a Historical Monument in 1977.
This church is rarely open to the public and is used as a concert venue.
Its architecture is remarkable.
It is 52 meters long, has a nave 11 meters wide, and a bell tower that rises to 53 meters.
That all for today my friends.
