As a former landscaper, I am pleasant to share this article with you about the magnificent " Jardin des Martels ", located just 30KM north of Toulouse.

All that remains is to go and discover it, and I warn you, it holds many wonderful surprises.

• An unusaul way to access it :

In this video, you can see the arrival of the little train, which, after a roughly 40-minutes ride through the local landscapers, reaches its terminus at the " Jardin des Martels ". The platforms are adorned with beautiful, colorful flowerbeds.

This is the first unusual and surprises highlight of visiting this truly remarkable garden.

Indeed, you can go to the " Saint-Lieu " station, where you will take a little train that will take you directly to the " Jardin des Martels " , its the terminus !!! .

A splendid 30-minutes ride through the local countryside awaits you aboard this little train.

• THE GARDEN :

The origin of the " Jardin des Martels " :

" The Jardin des Martels " is designed in the English style, covering 35 000 square meters of landscaping and numerous attractions.

It extends over 2 hectares of walking areas and features 3 000 different plant species from around the world !!! .

It was originally a family garden.

The story began in 1969 when a couple named " Reynié " settled in the beautiful potters'village of " Giroussens " .

Their initial project was to start a farm and take um agriculture.

Their son "Frédéric ", who went on to study horticulture, took over the maintenance of the garden.

At that time, the garden covered an area of 10 000M2 !!! .

The beginning of th garden :

In this video filmed at the Jardin des Martels, at its entrance, you can see colorful, flowering beds with plants from al the world, including blooming lotus flowers. At the end of the video, a beautiful wooden pergola comes into the view.

The family quickly opened the garden to the public, who were delighted.

This is why, in 1994, expansion work on the garden began, with the goal of doubling its size.

This is the birth of the " jardin des Martels " !!! .

Evolution and development of the garden :

In this video clip, you will discover one of the attraction of the Jardin des Martels. You can see the building that has been transformed into an exotic greenhouse. There are ponds with blooming water lilies and Japanese carp. Hanging orchids are also present from the ceiling. All these plants thrive because this space replicates the conditions of their natural habitat.

The first development was the transformation of a building into an exotic greenhouse, followed by the creation of a mini-former duck-raising area, and the establishment of a woodland area with brightly colored flower beds.

With all these changes, success soon followed, and visitor numbers grew from 3 000 to 35 000 in just three years !!!.

The garden team continued to grow, and the garden became a must-visit destination in the Tarn department, attracting around 60 000 visitors annually.

Trips abroad served as a source of inspiration for the garden's development.

Notably in 2009, a lotus Temple was cerated, and in 2014 it was enhanced with the addition of a Balinese joglo and its cascading staircase !!! .

It has received numerous distinctions, including :

4. As well as awards for vineyard and discovery.
