Introduction :
Today, we are going to talk about the Haussmann architectural style.Às you may know by now, Toulouse has a significant heritage of this style, just Bordeaux and Paris .
Today, we are going to talk about something curious.
I'm going to show you a building with a beautiful and quite unusual clock at the top.
Question of the day : What time is it in Toulouse ?
A little history:
Why this type of clock ?
It's a legitimate question to ask.
By the end of the 19th. century, capitalism was at its peak.
Another interesting fact is : this building has always been occupied by a bank.
As the saying goes : Time is money ......
The merchant bourgeoisie needed a precise system of measurement.
This clock symbolizes the continous flow of work and money-24 hours a day !!! .
In short, this this distinctive clock was reserved for a privileged population.
The building :

The clock is located a splendid Haussmannian palace built during the " Belle Époque " , the clock stands as a striking feature.
It is one of the most beautiful buildings on our shopping street, " Rue Alsace Lorraine ".
It has all the feature of Haussmannian architecture.
It was built with white stone, featuring a splendid cornice, a slate roof, and large picture windows.
Finally, it features a grand rounded shape , typical of Haussmannian architecture.
It also boasts truly remarkable wrought-iron balconies.
TheClock:

Yet another proof taht toulouse is a city worth visiting.
First of all, many residents of Toulouse have never looked up to admire this magnificent clock.
Furthermore, it is unique, as there are only two in France : one in Toulouse and the other in the city of " Auxerre " .
To read the time on this clock, you really have to think carefully, indeed, it doesn't show 1é hours but 24 hours !!! .
It is newer than the building.
it is less than 50 years old.
We owe it on a man, " Hervé Laumaillé ", who had family business that made cloks and operated a foundry.
It was his soon " Vincent", who took over the family business ans restored it is 1985.
The principle of this clock is that hand never passed the same spot twice.
To achieve this, a gear must be added between the minute and hour mechanisms.
As the result, the hand turns more slowly !!! .
CONCLUSION:
You could say that Toulouse has a one-of-a-kind clock in France !!! .
" Vincent Laumaillé " has restored clocks in iconic pales such as :
The iconic clock of the " Château de Versailles.
The one at the " Louvre " .
The " Château s-de Chenonceau's clock.
The one at " Fontevraud Abbey .
Nowdays, it should be noted that this type of clock in found in the fields of space and military !!! .
There you have it, my friends, that's all for today.
Another good reason to come visit Toulouse.
