Hello everybody, this Franck from the Toulouse blog.
Today, a tricky subject sine we are going to talk about gastronomy.
I can already feel your taste buds starting to react.
I offer you five addresses that I know well.
Five restaurants are very different , so there will be something for everyone.
A little clarification before you start , don't hesitate to book a few days in advance because many people eat there every day.
Come on let's go to the table !!! .
For fish and schellfish lovers : the restaurant " Chez Jeannot " :

What I already like in the very Frenchy name of this restaurant.
When you face the restaurant, look at the room on the far left.
It is the temple of the shucher who prepares seafood platters which are served in a magnificent little wooden boat.
Generaly, this boat emplies at a titanic pace in schellfish, and shrimp are delicious.
As for the map, it is fantastic.
Indeed there are a large number of fish choices in addition to the daily suggestions.
But all the dishes are mastered to perfection, the plates are craftfed and well presented.
I myself, as you know work in catering and I have never had a problem with cooking fish.
All the products used are of course fresh.
If you have room left at the end of the meal, I recommend the desserts, they are worth the detour.
You will also be offered a large choice af quality wine to accompagny your dishes.
In terms of decoration, the room is warm.
It is spacious, you will not eat with your neighbor and several decoration elements will immerse you in the seaside atmosphere.
The service is truly impeccable, there is nothing to say about it.
It is a young, dynamic, professionnal team that knows its job very well.
They will do everything to ensure that you have unforgattable time.

In summer, the best thing about this restaurant is its terrace.
If it is not huge it is very pleasant.
Especially since Bayard street, where this restaurant is located, was renoved and calmed down four years ago.
You will eat in peace because there is not too much car traffic.

That's all it my friends , if you come to Toulouse don't miss this fish restaurant, you will not be disappointed.

Want a restaurant serving quality classic cuisine, but which is also renowned for its regional dishes : The " Chez Emile " restaurant is for you.
To start a little history !!! .
This etablishment has existed since the 1940er. It was initially a guesthouse.
Then in the 1960er, it became one on the finest jewels of local Toulouse gastronomy.
Today, the two managers " Agnès and Christophe " to breathe new life into something, which I must say is quite interesting.
And now let's eat !!! .
The restaurant " Chez Emile " is located on one of the most pleasant squares in Toulouse : The Saint-Georges Square " .
In fact, it is full of activity due to the number of bars and restaurants located there.
A soon as you enter the place, you are immediately immersed in everything that makes Toulouse.
A warmly decorated room with typically Toulouse terracotta brinck wall.
If you're looking for a " factory " restaurant, you've come to the wrong place.
Indeed, here reigns an atmosphere of a small Parisian brasserie, the room has aroud fifty seats where you can enjoy your succulent meal in complete tranquility.
The restaurant is always full, so conviviality is essential.

At " Chez Emile " , you are in good hands.
Indeed Christophe the manager worked in a restaurant that has been awarded several stars for its quality.
He therefore knows the profession very weel, he knows what concept he wants to offer to his clients and we can say that it is a complete success .
Culinary wise, this restaurant will offer you classic cuisne .
Of course, it should be noted that you will find regional deshes inclunding, the famous " Cassoulet " from Toulouse, whose establihment was named world champion of cassoulet in Toulouse in 2017.
But every days, fresh fish will be offered to you and seasonal products will be cooked.
One of the greatest specialities that I recommend is the sweetbread.
It is excellent, not surprising since " The Emile " house works with the last tripe maker on the Victor Hugo market in Toulouse.
But what is most important for me to emphasize is that the cuisine that will be offered to you will be composed of fresh and seasonal products.
In fact at " Emile " we get our supplies from the two largest markets in the city, those of Carmes and Victor Hugo.
Their suppliers are the main brands in these two major markets.
For example, he worked with the same butcher for over 30 years.
To expand the possibilities to always offer quality dishes, " Chez Emile " also has local products of extreme quality.

It after all these good dishes, you have a little space left, you know I'm greedy, don't miss out on desserts.
They are all homemade and there is one that you don't often find on the restaurant menu these days that is excellent : it's The Grand Marnier soufflé ".

The restaurant has fairly remerkable wine list.
The waiters will adwise you on the wine that will best suit your meal.
The service reflects "Agnès and Christophe " .
The team is youg, dynamic and professional.
She will do everything to make your experience at Emile unforgettable.

Finally in summer, the restaurant has a small outdoor terrace which provides a significant plus.
It is located Place Saint-Georges, a very lively and pleasant place in the summer because it is full of trees.
There is even a very nice play area for children.......if they have trouble staying at the table.
There you go, I think that no hesitation is possible.
Chez Emile is truly a restaurant that has made its place on the Toulouse scene and is definitely not to be missed.

We are not in the land of the raclette mountain, but I couldn't miss the restaurant : " Mamie Poule " :
Location :

This establihment is located in an extremely lively street in Toulouse.
Indeed, this street is filled with bars, restaurants and nightclubs where Toulouse's 120 000 students meet to party.
And now go to the table !!! :
Small clarification, this restaurant is seasonal and is open from November to March.
He will welcome you every evening from Tuesday to Saturday inclusive.
You will be greeted by " Emilie and Sébastien " who manages the etablishment.
I must say that they make a good team, who will put you at quite ease straight away.
This is immediately felt in the restaurant, dreaming of a relaxed, friendly and festive atmosphere.
As for the cuisine that will be offered tou you, it's a culinary shock .
Indeed, in the land of Cassoulet, foie gras, duck, you will be offered to taste fondues, raclettes, saladas, prime rib and many other things.
Having tried the raclette and the fondue, I have nothing else to say : delicious !!! .
I have been in the restaurant business for seven years and I think these dishes are as good as what we eat in their region of origin.

If you have a little room after that, I highly recommend dessert : Chocolate fondue !!! .

For the decoration, you think are in a chalet in the mountains.
As for the service, it is, as often, the image of the professional and relaxed manager.
The staff will immediately put you at ease and will do everything to make your evening perfect.
Conclusion :

Here, my friends, if you come to Toulouse and cut Cassoulet, you prefer to eat good raclette or fondue, at " Mamie Poule " is for you !!! .

The fourth restaurant that I suggest to you and for fans of time travel : the " Café Authié " :

Location :
This establishment is located on " Place Dupuy " where " La Halle aux Grains " is located.
This magnificent hexagonal building was originally a covered market in 1864, then became a sports center until 1952.
From 1974, it became a concert hall with wonderful acoustics and houses the national orchestra of the Capitole which is one of the largest in France after Paris.
This magnificent square is completed by the column " Jean Mornet Dupuy " which is a fountain with its four seated bronze griffins which reject water throught their mouths into the basin.
The sculpture in the top is " Dame Tholose " carved by " Jean Rancy " in the 16th. century.
A little history :

As you can see, the " Café Authié " is located in a square steeped in history and when you cross the door of this establishment, you also cross time.
In fact, this bar which bears witness to the history of the district was founded by the Authier family in 1882.
At the time, the etablishment had the name " Café éponyme " of which would became a hundred years later, the oldest establishment in Toulouse : The " Café Authié ".
As I told you, the grain market was initialy a covered market, this Café was a table d'hôte where farmers and merchants came to trade and then come to eat or have a drink.
Today, the " Café Authié " is on authentic brasserie managed by Olivier, a very charismatic character.
Now we're hungry, let's eat !!! :
Indeed, a soon as you pass the door of this authentic brasserie, you will be greeted by Olivier and his team.
He knows the job very well, masters his concept to perfection and above all will put you ease straight away.
Indeed you will very quickly have the impression that you are going to eat like at home, in a very friendly and relaxed atmosphere.
Be carreful though, for those who are expecting an extented card, you are not in the right place.
But you know; I did seven years of catering and it's the right formula.
Here the food has regional touches, notably " Aveyronnaise " and not only that......
Indeed, you will also be offered dishes more in line with classic cuisine, such as " salmon steak and sweet potato puree " or magnificent and hearty " Steak Tartare " .
Indeed, all the products are fresh, the plates and cooking are mastered and the dishes are beautifully presented.
If at the end of the meal you have a little room left, I recommend desserts.
They are all homemade.
These is one that I particularly recommend : the" Baba au Rhum " : it is delicious !!! .
The service is like Olivier, invested, very professionals, smiling and who will do everything to ensure that you have a good time in this brewery steeped in history.
Now that our meal is finished, let's take the time to open our eyes and contemplate the room steeped in history :
Indeed, the decoration of this brasserie traces the beginnings of this establihment " the Café éponyme " of this establihment " The Café Authié " to the present today.
There are some truly remarkable decorative elements.
I will mention the presence of old siphons, an authentic and magnificent cash register, posters on all the walls and an original horseshoe shaped counter.

In the back room, there is even a tribute to Rugby and yes we are in the land of oval ball !!! .
On the wall is the photo of our first rugby team, our club from the Toulouse " Stade Toulousain ", dating from 1920.
The " Café Authié " after dark :
The " Café Authié " is not just a brasserie from 7 p.m. as soon as Toulouse residents get off work, they meet up to drink an aperitif.
We can even say that at seven o'clock the " Café Authié " is a wine bar which has been frequented by all generations of Toulouse residents.
It has an outdoor terrace with a magnificent view of the " Halle aux Grains " .

If you come to visit Toulouse, I advise you to come to the " Café Authié " to taste beautiful boards of homemade Tapas, with a good glass of wine.
Afterwards, you can go listen to the grandiose national orchestra of the Capitol.
Conclusion :
There you have it my friends, I think that the roadside Café is very much worth visiting for all the positive reasons that I have given you.
If one evening you go to have an aperitif on the terrace, don't forget to have a drink in honor of the Toulouse blog.

If you are looking for a real Parisian brasserie in Toulouse, this restaurant is for you : " Le Parisien " :
Moreover, it lives upto its name since it is called : " The Parisien " .
This between dater from the 70s.
It is located between " Place Jeanne d'Arc " and the gateway to the rain shopping street of Toulouse: " La rue Alsace Lorraine ".
Indeed, in this large artery with Haussmannian buildings, you will find numerous boutiques, in all international clothing brands.
The restaurant : " Le Parisien " :
Above all , it has a great asset, as the building which houses it is triangular in shape, it has two very pleasant terraces for eating or having a drink on sunny days.
