The Japanese Garden in Toulouse.

Updated: Jun 8

As a Landscaper designer, I'm very excited to present this post to you.

  • The Beginning: The project.

In the 1980s, under the leadership of the major "Dominique Baudis ", who played a significant role is shaping modern-day Toulouse, the creation of this magnificent garden took place.

More broadly, this garden is a part of a larger neighborhood known as "Compas Caffarelli ", which spans an area of 10 000 square meters and was built in the 1980s.

  • The Japnese Graden:

It's creation was decided in 1981, and its inauguration took place in 1983.

It spans an area a of 7 000 square meters , and is inspired of the Gardens of Kyoto between the 14th. and the 16th. centuries.

The there traditional themes can be found: The Lake, the mountains and the Island.

Tere is also a Zen garden, typically Japanese, with three composents : Stone, water, and sand on which we draw patterns representing waves are the three composents of the Zen garden.

This garden received several accolades and distinctions:

  • It is recognized as a Remarkable Garden of France.

  • In 1993, it received the National Flowering Award.

We can say that there aren't manyJapanese gardens in the south of France, and that this is one of the most beautiful ones.

In the Japanese garden in Toulouse, you will find a serene lake, a beautiful red Japanese bridge, and a tea house that also serves as a small exhibition space.

As a Landscaper designer, I can tell you that it has reached its maturity and is a complete success.

  • The types of plants you can find in a Japanese garden:

The Japanese Garden in Toulouse showcases various botanical species from the Far East Asia.

  • A type of grass: L'Hakonechloa macra

  • The white-flowered Japanese anemone with white flowers.

  • Hostas are a popular plant choice for stady areas in the Japaneses garden.

  • The Sagine is a perennial grounddrover plant.

  • Ferns.

  • Japanese Iris of all colors.

  • Bamboos.

  • Astilbe plants, shade-loving required moist soil, with and pink flowers.

  • Asian primroses, they have an erect bloom.

  • Cherry and appel trees from Japan with beautiful flowering.

  • Japanese maples.

  • clound-pruned pine trees.

  • Camellias and Azaleas.

  • Pierris Japanica.

  • Nandina.

If you visit Toulouse in spring, you are going to be immersed in the land of the rising sun with cherry and apple trees in bloom.

  • The statues and objects in stone:

In the garden you will find a statue of Budhha, a lantern and a bust of Master " Taisen Deshimaru ".

He was renowned Zen Buddhist teacher, who founded numerous Zen dojos in France during the 1970s.

  • The Compans Caffarelli Garden:

It is the second largest garden in Toulouse.

This garden is a breath of fresh air for the entire neighborhood.

It is very wooded, which palygrounds for your thirst.

In addition, the garden also features a flowing stream, numerous statues and beautiful fountains.

One the first photo, the statue represents " Carlos Gardel " , who is considered the most important figure of the 20th. century tango.

It's located at the entrance of the garden on the boulevard. He was born in Toulouse on December 11, 1890.

That's why it's not uncommon to see the people of Toulouse dancing tango outdoors in the city square.

Every year, we have a tango festival in Toulouse.

That's all for today.

I hope you will enjoy reading this post.

We talked a little bit about nature, it doesn't hurt!!!.

Welcome in Toulouse.

The Blog from Toulouse.

Greetings Franck.
